About the Event
The Canadian Council for the Americas Alberta with the support of Laryan Enterprises Ltd. are pleased to invite the business community to our upcoming “Que Pasa in Venezuela webinar” where distinguish our guest speakers will deliver an update on the current social, political, and economic situation in Venezuela.
Venezuela has been experiencing the most prolonged hyperinflation in modern history, contributing to many urgent social problems, which are made more painful by a serious deterioration in public services that leaves most of the country suffering from regular blackouts and water shortages. Many international observers believe Venezuela is a failed state on the verge of collapse, spawning one of the most urgent humanitarian and refugee crises in modern history.
Canada is a leading member of the international community that refuses to recognize Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela, instead recognizing the caretaker presidency of Juan Guaido. It is hoped that this international pressure, reinforced by punishing US sanctions will eventually force the Maduro regime to agree to free and fair elections to solve the political impasse.
When conditions permit, massive investments will be needed to reactivate Venezuela’s once world-class petroleum industry and finance infrastructure reconstruction projects in other sectors of the economy. Most of these amounts will have to come from national and international private sector investors. Canadians will be welcomed to participate in these efforts.
There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentations.
