MATURE FIELDS IN MEXICO

BUSINESS SEMINAR

January 19, 2017

Fairmont Palliser Hotel

Calgary, Alberta

The continuous development of the energy reform in Mexico continues to provide areas of opportunity for Alberta companies to explore in the Mexican market. One area with significant potential is the mature fields market. According to a study released by the Government of Alberta “Of all productive fields in Mexico, 73% have reached maturity stage. Those gather 32% of2P reserves and 43% of Mexico’s hydrocarbon production.” According to this report created by Market Intelligence Latin America“, recovery factors are highly variable being 40%+ in some major offshore fields and as low as 0.3% in the Chicontepec belt (also known as Aceite Terciario del Golfo project – ATG) where huge prospective unconventional resources are found.  Excluding ATG, Mexico’s overall oil recovery factor stands at 26.3% while considering this asset, this figure decreases to 15.1%.”

To learn more about specific areas of opportunity in mature fields in Mexico we are inviting a selected group of experts, from Mexico and Alberta, whom will provide their business insight and technical knowledge about the challenges and opportunities that the Mexican market represents. We are inviting guest speakers with direct experience in the Mexican market, and particularly from the mature fields area. Guest speakers will share their perspectives about the mature fields market in Mexico. All speakers have direct experience with the Mexican market and their companies have been recently awarded with contracts to operate or provide services in Mexico’s mature field projects. Some of the topics to be discussed include:

  • Current Situation of Mature Fields in Mexico.
  • Business opportunities in Mexico’s mature fields sector.
  • Technical and business challenges faced when dealing with mature fields in Mexico.
  • Regulatory system in Mexico.
  • Success Cases.
