About the Event
Ricardo A. Chona, graduated as a Petroleum engineer from Montana Tech in 1988, and began his career as a field engineer with Texaco E&P in Colombia, South America. He continued his career as reservoir engineer for onshore heavy oil fields with steam stimulation and gas offshore field in Colombia. After completing his MS PE from New Mexico Tech in 1997, he worked as senior reservoir engineer for Texaco’s GoM shelf fields based in New Orleans, LA. Still with Texaco, he spent ~ 4 years in Kuwait as senior reservoir engineer for onshore Wafra field in the PNZ (Partitioned Neutral Zone). Ricardo and his family moved back to the USA in 2004, where he worked as engineering advisor in deepwater GoM Appraisal team, in Houston, Texas. In 2005 he went to work for Amerada Hess in business development, evaluating opportunities in the US/Canada and South America. In 2007 he began working with Repsol E&P USA, as business development manager for Latin America and in 2016 as Land manager in charge of the Eagle Ford and Midcont assets. In 2020 he began consulting with Drillinktech International as Business Development and Project Manager for Colombia. Mr. Chona is considered an energy professional for any matters related to Latin America, the Caribbean region and USA/Canada.
Ricardo and his wife Martha of 30 years live in the Woodlands and have three children, Daniela, Nicolas and Emilio. Ricardo enjoys cycling/jogging and gardening
